Shreveport: Officer who shot and killed Alonzo Bagley resigned

Shreveport, LA – Shreveport’s Mayor Tom Arceneaux’s Office announced via a press release on Friday, March 17, 2023, that the Shreveport Police Officer who shot and killed Alonzo Bagley, 43, during a short foot chase on February 3, 2022, at the Villa Norté Apartments, has resigned from the Shreveport Police Department.

The Mayor and SPD Police Chief Wayne Smith were notified that Officer Alexander Tyler, 23, has resigned from the Shreveport Police Department.

The decision was made solely by Tyler and his attorney.

The city has followed all policies and procedures during this process.
