17-year-old charged with attempted second-degree murder on West Sycamore charge dropped

Alexandria, LA (2/11/2023) – According to Alexandria Police Department, the original charge of attempted second-degree murder has been dropped. The 17-year-old male suspect is charged with one count of aggravated battery, one count of juvenile in possession of a firearm, and one count of resisting arrest.

Alexandria, LA (2/10/2023) – Alexandria Police Department (APD) reported at approximately 3:40 PM, Friday, February 10, 2023, officers were dispatched to West Sycamore Street and Browns Bend Road about someone being shot.

Upon Officers’ arrival, in the 2200 block of West Sycamore Street, they discovered a 19-year-old male victim from Alexandria, LA, suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. Medical personnel arrived and treated the victim for his non-life-threatening injury.  

Alexandria Police arrested the suspect, a 17-year-old male juvenile from Alexandria, LA, and charged him with one count of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.    

This is currently an ongoing investigation.
