Pineville, LA (1/1/2023) – According to Pineville Police Department, on January 1, 2023, while investigating a trespassing complaint on Effie Street, patrol officers heard gunshots in the area.
Officers responded to Wood Street and observed a male lying in the street with gunshot wounds. Officers called for medical support and rendered aid to the male. The victim later died at a local hospital.
Officers took one suspect into custody that was on the scene.
This is an ongoing investigation. The victim’s name will not be released until the next of kin is notified.
