Rapides Parish, La. (10/16/2022) – A statement was made on the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page regarding a shooting at the Rapides Fair last night; it is as follows.
“There are a lot of rumors and social media buzz about a shooting at the Rapides Parish Fair last night. THAT IS NOT TRUE.
Deputies responded to reports that a person had a gun in the crowd, found the person, and there was NO gun.
Several teenagers were gathered up started running and that created a panic.
Due to the panic, as a precaution, deputies did decide to close the fair 30 minutes early and cleared the area.
Our deputies will stay vigilant and work hard to provide a safe environment for families and others to come to the fair.”
