What does it say about a candidate when they refuse to attend a political forum?
For whatever reason, Former Mayor Jacque Roy continues to live in this fantasyland that he is what’s good for Alexandria. The audacity and arrogance to not show up to the Alpha Phi Alpha Political Forum are very concerning.
There are issues in Alexandria that the people want real solutions to. They are tired of the empty political promises. Forums allow you to look a candidate in the eye and ask hard questions. Roy and his team continue to dodge the opportunity to be questioned by the residents of Samtown/Woodside, Broadway, Acadian Village, Sonia Quarters, Martin Park, etc.
This shows a pattern. Roy knows his 12 years put us in a lot of the mess we are in now. He does not want to publicly answer a simple question that UrbanCast is waiting to ask him in public. What will be different? Will the communities mentioned above and neighborhoods be a priority if he is re-elected since they were not during his previous 12 years?
We want to know. But to continue to dodge the said communities and their political process in Alexandria shows Roy has not changed. He is looking to return to his “throne” and pick up where he left off on his power trip.
Under Roy, The “haves” will have more, and the underserved will suffer. His first 12 years prove as much.
Roy’s 12 years as Mayor, his lack of a clear plan to move all of Alexandria forward, and his lack of community engagement lead UrbanCast to see no clear path for his campaign.
Based on that record, it’s truly laughable to hear some people in Alexandria consider giving him a second chance.
If you live in Alexandria‘s Districts #1, #2, #3, and part of #4, you would probably say Roy ruined it already.
Just walk out your door and look around, it looks like a third-world country.
