Grand Jury Indicts Alfred Rue IV for Second-Degree Murder

Alexandria, LA (5/21/2024) — A Rapides Parish Grand Jury has returned a true bill of indictment for one count of second-degree murder against Alfred Rue IV.

Rue, 25, is also facing an additional charges of criminal conspiracy, taking contraband in/out of penal institution, and manufacturing, production or distribution of cannabinoids. The court has ordered that his bond remains set at $1,050,000.

A “true bill” indicates that the grand jury found sufficient evidence to charge Rue with the alleged crimes, moving the case forward to trial.

Rue turned himself in at the Rapides Parish Detention Center following the issuance of an active warrant related to the charges. The Alexandria Police Department (APD) had previously issued a warrant for Rue in connection to the homicide of De’Asia Mullins, which occurred on October 18, 2023, in the 2200 block of West Sycamore Street.

A family member disclosed that Rue’s arrest was part of a coordinated operation involving the U.S. Marshal’s Service, underscoring the seriousness of the charges and the collaborative effort to apprehend him.

According to the Rapides Parish Inmate Inquiry System, Rue’s bond remains unchanged at $1,000,000. This substantial bond reflects the gravity of the accusations and ensures that Rue remains in custody as he awaits further legal proceedings.

The community continues to grapple with the impact of Mullins’ death, and this indictment represents a significant step in the pursuit of justice for her and her family. Rue’s next court appearance is eagerly anticipated as the case progresses through the legal system.
