Dry Prong Man Killed in Grant Parish Crash

Grant Parish, LA (March 31, 2024) – Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a tragic one-vehicle crash on Dyson Creek Road on March 30, 2024, around 9:00 p.m., resulting in the loss of 27-year-old David Townsend from Dry Prong.

According to the initial investigation, Townsend was driving a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on Dyson Creek Road when the vehicle failed to negotiate a right-hand curve.

Subsequently, the truck veered off the roadway, collided with a mailbox, overturned, and partially ejected Townsend from the vehicle.

Tragically, Townsend, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

While the specific circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation, authorities emphasize the importance of seat belt usage in reducing the risk of death or injury in such incidents.

In 2024, Troop E Troopers have already responded to 18 fatal crashes resulting in 20 fatalities, highlighting the significance of road safety measures.
