Teamwork on the Road: La. Troopers and Law Enforcement Partners Ensure Safety in I-20 Work Zone

Bossier Parish, LA (1/27/2024) – In a concerted effort to address the issue of Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) entering the I-20 work zone, Troopers and local law enforcement partners collaborated yesterday, resulting in more than 120 citations issued to non-compliant CMV drivers.

The ongoing I-20 construction project in Bossier City demands significant momentum, prompting the implementation of Louisiana Revised Statue 32:237 in December 2023. This law expressly prohibits commercial motor vehicles, including 18-wheelers, from navigating the I-20 construction zone.

Since the law’s enforcement began, Troopers and local law enforcement have collectively issued over 300 citations to CMV drivers, emphasizing a shared commitment to maintaining the integrity of the work zone and ensuring compliance with road signage.

The collaborative efforts underscore the effectiveness of working together to hold accountable those who disregard the rules. Moving forward, the enforcement of Louisiana Revised Statue 32:237 will persist, with a steadfast commitment to taking necessary actions against any CMV driver violating the law.

The collective dedication of Troopers and local law enforcement ensures the ongoing safety and efficiency of the I-20 construction project. By upholding the regulations, we aim to create a safer environment for all motorists and contribute to the timely completion of the I-20 project. Together, we pave the way for a secure and efficient work zone for everyone involved.
