Chalmette: Deputies arrest a man for fatally shooting his brother

Chalmette, LA (6/26/2023) – The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office (SBSO) arrested a Chalmette man for fatally shooting his brother Saturday evening in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Kenneth Weiskopf, 25, of the 2100 block of Paris Road in Chalmette, was booked with second-degree murder.

On Saturday, June 24, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said deputies responded to a call about a shooting in the 2100 block of Paris Road in Chalmette.

When deputies arrived, they observed an adult male victim lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

Deputies also came into contact with another adult male, later identified as Kenneth Weiskopf, who stated he was the shooter and the victim was his brother.

During the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau confirmed the two brothers had been involved in an altercation when Kenneth Weiskopf brandished a weapon and shot his brother.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Weiskopf was transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
