Natchitoches, LA (12/30/2022) – According to Natchitoches Police Department (NPD) a one-year-old is dead, and both the mother and companion have been arrested. On December 25, 2022, around 4:22 p.m., officers with NPD responded to a medical emergency in the Natchitoches Thomas Apartments.
Upon NPD Officers’ arrival, they located an unresponsive one-year-old victim. After attempting several life-saving measures, the juvenile was pronounced deceased by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office.
Detectives with the NPD were called to investigate the death further. As a result of their investigation, Damian Jewett, 27, and Jocelyn Crenshaw, 23, both of Natchitoches, were arrested for negligent homicide and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. Jewett and Crenshaw’s bonds are set at $500,000 each.
The father, Kenneth Davis, said on a Go-Fund-Me page that the Natchitoches Parish Coroner said Nateo actually died on Friday, December 23, 2022; he was dehydrated, burned from his back to his calves, wrapped in Saran Wrap, and left dead on a couch.
This investigation is ongoing, and the Natchitoches Police Department will release more details as they become available.
